3 times Gravity Bowl + front flip

I tried mountain biking with Willie this afternoon.  It took two GPS to get to Delta Watershed where we had a lot of fun in the afternoon.  We got lost when we got there because we missed the exits.

First time for me on the bike, and first time for me to ride on these expensive bikes.  They are meant for tossing, abusing and good downhill riding.

So we went into the wood and rode up and down the wooden trails and at last we got to the highlight of the day: Gravity Bowl.  It is nothing to Willie since he is a pro and he does all that in Whistler, but for me, I am new to all these.

We had a bunch of people admiring at Willie's bikes and I feel ashame when 6 years old kids can clear off that 7 feets of jump better than me riding on the easy side of the bowl, but still, I had the guts to tackle it.

So.. I went down the Gravity Bowl three times today.  First time it was amazing.  I never knew I could go up the hill with so much speed.  Second and third time it was more skid.  I guess I put on the brake more when I am not supposed to put on any brake.  The second time I was riding down very close to the tree and on the last run, I did a 180 Front flip with the bike and landed on my lower back(or my butt).

Willie's knee+shin armour protected me or else there would be 6 stitches now, but I had no scratch or anything.  That's the beauty of armour!

I did not hurt my head nor anything else.  When I fell, I tried to push the bike up so that it doesn't fall on me, but regardless, that was really fun.  I went into Shock mode right after I fell because that was a big fell.  My mind was all clear and okay, but my body did not respond for 10 seconds and then I went okay, with no shaking afterward.

The more I push myself, the more power I know I can generate from my body.  I beat Willie going uphill. ^^

I learned how to ride standing up properly, getting off the bike properly, and fall properly.  I even ran over logs on the ground, going down the stairs and up/down the sidewalk.

It was fun.

My right lowerback/butt is a little sore when I get home cuz of the fall, and so is my right leg.  But the amour did a perfect protection and I landed perfectly to avoid hitting my head.  My brain can still function without problem.

The highlight of the day is that I did the gravity bowl three times and fell with a 180 degree front flip on my last run.

I googled up Delta Watershed Gravity Bowl on youtube and this is what I find. I can do better next time.

$7000 landscaping project

Our neighbour, Mr Lam, owner of Impression Landscaping horticultural, came by today to take a look at our garden.  Dad invited him over and asked him to give us a quote.  Then my parents went out with Mr lam and visited his house. When they came back, mom told me they have given the project to Mr Lam and he will charge us $7000 for remodifying the whole garden, including, planting flowers, hedging trees, and redo the whole image..

Personally, if that $7000 includes only the physical part of building our garden, i think that is quite expensive.

On the other hand, if that $7000 makes my parents' relationship better and they will have less debate on how to prune trees and flowers, and at the same time Dad gets to shadow the professionals to learn how to take care of a garden, I guess that actually worths the money.

$7000 is a lot of money, really, but it is pretty cheap when it comes to improving my parents' relationship.

labour day

Finally a day off. Today I will treat myself well and let myself take a break and put aside all the work.
